Ethereum Ropsten proof-of-stake test merge goes live on last Wednesday. Developer merged Ropsten’s Proof of Work chain with its Proof of Stake Beacon Chain.
The goal of this test merge is to prepare for the main merge, which is expected to take place later in this year.
The main merge, or “The Merge”, will see Ethereum’s transition from its Proof of Work consensus mechanism to Proof of Stake, which is more eco-friendly because it will incredibly reduce the computational power, energy consumption in other words , to validate transactions
